Poor Mich. First I convince her to make a couple costumes for a contest giveaway in October. Day after the draw I suggest a Christmas contest –a family photo shoot giveaway.

Last September Miss Emily the cat came to life with the launch of Miss Emily Goes to Bat. In honour of her first birthday we wanted to give you a chance to win a copy of the Miss Emily book. But first, we wanted to share an overview of Miss Em’s first year as minor local celebrity and philanthropic cat. 
Miss Emily began her first year raising money for the Kootenay Child Development Centre, new home to a number of child practitioners and specialists dedicated to servicing children in the East and West Kootenay area of BC.
To raise money, Miss Emily’s book was the focus of several book readings at libraries, bookstores and schools across the East Kootenay. 20% of Miss Em’s retail sales went to the Centre.
In the end, Miss Emily raised over $300.00. She also donated a couple of signed prints that hang in the Centre’s lobby, enabling Miss Emily and her lovable owners, Will and Thom, to personally greet the young children who use the Centre.
Miss Emily has also made a bit of a name for herself outside her hometown area. Last spring she received an A+ review from American on-line book reviewer, Lit Kid Reviews. You’ll also find Miss Emily hanging out at the McMaster Children’s Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario, as part of the Jackson’s Make a Memory book collection.
Of course Miss Emily will always be dedicated to the betterment of children so watch for new fundraisers, donations and contests throughout the coming year. Trina and I had an “official” meeting the other day and finally decided that we really want to see this blog come alive! After chatting for about an hour we found that our focus, passion and main interest is really children. In light of this we’ve decided that it is our heart to make this blog a safe, fun, and educational site for kids, parents, families, and even for teachers. So here’s what we’ve got up our sleeves;
*Colouring Pages* – more and more and more FREE colouring pages of ALL kinds!!! Obviously I love drawing stuff for kids but I’ve always dreamed of publishing a colouring book as well. So here’s my chance to begin the process! The benefit is that kids and parents will get them for FREE right here!
*Crafts* – my kids and I have done so many fun crafts over the years so we decided to compile, work on, photograph and post some fabulous ideas for kids and parents here.
*Activity Sheets* – crossword puzzles, mazes, secret codes… etc… this will be so much fun to create!
*Fun Educational Posts* – we are planning to dish out some great stuff here too – you gotta check back with your kids for these! In addition to offering great information we’ll be sure to include many graphics, drawings and pictures!
*CONTESTS!* – oh yes – I said contests! Specifically for kids – so be sure to stick with us and watch for those!
*Recipes* – kid friendly food that Mom doesn’t need to slave over!
Oh there will be so much more, even random posts like the one I wrote yesterday – Taking the Cat for a Walk – but we also promise to keep you updated on all Whimsical Publishing’s news as well!
