More Reviews >>> “My class and I really enjoy the book “Miss Emily Goes to Bat”. We were lucky enough to have the author and illustrator come read to us. The kids were engaged and fell in love with all the characters. Not only was it a cute story, it taught the kids about rhyming and rhythm in writing. It also had a wonderful message that we still talk about today! Thanks for producing such a wonderful kids book and taking the time to come in to share it with us!”
~ Mrs. Hammond, Grade 2 teacher, Marysville, BC
“My Kindergarten class at Steeples was very excited to have the opportunity to enjoy a book straight from the author and illustrator themselves! Very rarely do they get the opportunity to experience this kind of a treat. They loved “Miss Emily”, and especially liked finding out what the mice were doing on each new page! Miss Emily Goes to Bat is a favourite book of the class’ to read at Book Time. It has been an excellent addition to our classroom library.
Thank you for taking the time to bring the words on a page to life in my classroom.”
~ Jennifer Johns, kindergarten teacher, Cranbrook BC

I had the opportunity, more than once, to read “Miss Emily Goes to Bat” to my boys who are 4 and 7. Trina gives a fantastic introduction to children about “just being you.” Micheline has created vibrant illustrations that provide an even clearer picture of the message being conveyed to children. The book’s language is poetic, simply crying out to be read aloud.
If you’re looking for a great book to read to your child, Miss Emily Goes to Bat is a good choice, and don’t let the title fool you—I think both boys and girls would be interested in this book, especially the part where children can have fun finding the mice that appear in each spread. By reading this book together, parents can improve their child’s self-esteem — that in itself makes it a worthwhile read.
The drawings in Miss Emily Goes to Bat are colourful, cheerful, and, most importantly, plentiful. Every detail is illustrated, bringing Miss Emily’s journey alive.
Besides putting together a wonderful read that can be shared for generations to come, Trina and Micheline have also taken part in providing a legacy for future generations by donating 20% of their sales to the Kootenay Child Development Centre; they are supporting not only childhood literacy, but also child health and development.
